Expository Preaching Conference - 20th Oct 2008 The book of Job is both a marvel and a headache for the responsible preacher. Its poetic and stark struggles with the painful question of suffering take our breath away with its beauty and poignant relevance. Yet this very beauty and pertinence calls for uncommon skill is navigating it. Its nature as wisdom literature requires skilful exegesis and understanding. Its confrontation of the universal conundrum of suffering demands pastoral sensivity and honest empathy. The tough questions it throws up about God's character calls for thorough and hard thinking that cuts no corners. How can a preacher teach and proclaim the book of Job so that it speaks to us today as God intends? To help us unpack this gem of a book, Christopher Ash will be showing preachers how to approach and preach through Job, through lectures and model sermons, at this October’s Expository Preaching Conference. Come join us, as we seek together to faithfully bring the treasures of God’s word to his people.
