Expository Preaching Conference - 20th Oct 2008

Theme: Out of the Storm: Preaching Job
Speaker: Christopher Ash, Director of the Cornhill Training Course (London, UK)
Venue: Singapore Youth For Christ

The book of Job is both a marvel and a headache for the responsible preacher. Its poetic and stark struggles with the painful question of suffering take our breath away with its beauty and poignant relevance. Yet this very beauty and pertinence calls for uncommon skill in navigating it. How can a preacher teach and proclaim the book of Job so that it speaks to us today as God intends?

Come join us, as we seek together to faithfully bring the treasures of God's word to his people.

Evening Expositions - 21st and 22nd Oct 2008

Theme: Grappling with God: Expositions from Job
Speaker: Christopher Ash, Director of the Cornhill Training Course (London, UK)
Venue: Orchard Road Presbyterain Church

Suffering. The book of Job contronts us with this hardest of the all questions - how can a good God allow innocent suffering??

Job's long debate with God in the midst of his terrible suffering captures much of our confusion at the bewildering pain in our world. Such pain seems to point to an impotent God, or worse, an indifferent one. How can this sit with the picture of the sovereign, loving God of the Bible? Together with Job, today we cry "Why, God?"

Come and join us at evening expositions as we tackle one of the hardest questions of all time.
